Artista García

Who I am?

I am Miguel García García, a multidisciplinary artist and creator.

About me

I am Miguel García García, Technical Engineer and Graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca. Throughout my career, I have completed a multitude of training courses that have allowed me to immerse myself in all areas of Art and the halo that surrounds it. Apart from my degrees, my training in Diploma in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets (specialty in Painting) from the School of León stands out; Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets (specialty in Graphic Doc.) from the School of Salamanca; Degree in Art History from UNED, Master in Sacred Art and Master in Digital Animation. I have also made stays in Verona, Lisbon, and in the Painting Restoration Workshop of the National Prado Museum. I am a member of the BISITE Research Institute of the University of Salamanca and I coordinate different specialization courses at the same University. I have given conferences at different institutions such as the Universidad Agustiniana (Bogotá), CRAFTINNOVA and in several editions of these Conferences in León. Currently, I am doing a doctorate with the topic “Graffiti, urban art or vandalism. The scene in the city of Salamanca”, combining it with my business project (since 2015), restNOVA SOLUCIONES ARTÍSTICAS, and collaborating with the Campocerrado Foundation in the conservation of its contemporary art collection.

More than 10 years carrying out various restoration, conservation, curating and creation tasks.

In short... What am I?

– Licensed in fine Arts.
– Graduated in Art History.
– Master in Sacred Art.
– Master in Digital Animation.
– Higher Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets (Esp. Painting).
– Graduate in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets (Esp. Graphic Doc.).
– Agricultural Technical Engineer.
-And I am about to become a Doctor with a thesis that investigates the graffiti scene in the city of Salamanca.

And what good has all this done for me?

All these titles are the trace of my path, and thanks to them I have achieved some of the best experiences of my life: working at the Prado Museum, studying in Verona, restoring in Lisbon, researching in Coimbra…

I try to escape from routine and although I am a very “nervous” person, I manage to dedicate a lot of time to Restoration while I focus on my workshop, listening to talks on personal and professional growth.

What inspires me?

If I had to tell you about those restorations that have been unforgettable or the most enriching experiences… The first, at the Prado Museum (I would need a book to tell you everything I did and how that experience enriched me), the second, having worked in the assembly of the Ana Mendieta exhibition at the MUSAC and the third having cataloged a wooden coffered ceiling, belonging to an old hospital founded by the Grand Duke of Alba in the town of Alba de Tormes.

I am inspired by many people from different fields. In the professional field I would like to follow in the footsteps of a character, known as “the auctioneer”, Simón de Pury… who was an advisor and person in charge of the art collection created by Baron Thyssen Bornemisza. I am also interested in researching and knowing the history of artists who succeeded in life, for me Peter Paul Rubens is the master of masters.
